Hong Kong Stuff

Basic Definition: Reverse Culture Shock is the culture shock you get when returning to your home culture after being in another culture (typically overseas). When visiting the new culture you adjust and adapt, therefore when returning home, the home is not so different (although it can be), but more so, you are different, and 'home' gives a kind of culture shock (extreme or mild).

Has anyone experienced the Reverse Culture Shock? Would you like to share your stories?

Can be:
Chinese returning from overseas
Foreigner visiting home after being in China (including Hong Kong)
etc.

Although it is stated to be by MAIL only, i suggest you do apply the same "BY EMAIL FOLLOWED BY MAIL", so that the Principal could get notified of your application earlier and would postpone from making a decision on the candidates before your mail reached his/her hand...

Well, no I guess it doesn't hurt at all :-) Thanks again for that link!

I have just looked at it and it says that the successful applicant is also expected to lead Bible study groups! Haha, not sure I'd be up for this standard. But I can still post my CV to them (because this is what is stated in their requirements - by mail only), even though the deadline for the applications was 31 May 2010./body>
And dean, sorry for posting things irrelevant to your topic.
Since i am a HK local, i dont hv much cultural shock as stated by you anyways...
Hi Cooala,

Irrelevant is fun though *he he*.

I wouldn't talk too bad of going to Shenzhen. This group has many people who came here through the larger sister site, 'shenzhenstuff.com' (including me even though I live in northern Hong Kong). Actually I got a little culture shock in Hong Kong after coming back from the mainland, so it can work both ways. So interesting, it can really happen anywhere there is a 'different' culture.

I'm sure living in different parts of the same city you can get this kind of experience.

The YCG thing on SZ Stuff, I've spoken to Shenzhen Stuff people about this, they're as appalled as anyone. It's a culture within the site, I think that culture exists in Hong Kong also. It's also the stereotype I give LKF though.
