Hello folks, this is my first blog for HKStuff. I have been hanging around the Chinese stuff sites for the last couple of years and am very glad to see HK has finally gotten into the fray. With this blog I am going to introduce myself so you will know where I am coming from. My name is David but you can call me Freakboy. I am from Canada and can be very outspoken at times, if you are a follower of ShenZhen Stuff you can see me as a prevailing form and discussion writer on that site. I have been living in China for almost 8 years now working at many different job as I have a world of experience. No this is not a CV of any sorts but more like an open rant.
Over the last half of my life that has been China I have grown in many ways, I am also not going to get into those thing right now. Basically this is a welcome to my world here on HKStuff so lets get on with it. I have studied Music in Canada and have for the most part forgotten more about the art then most people will ever know. I will be using my page to introduce to you some of the finest music in this wonderful world. I really don't expect everybody to enjoy it but I am going to be putting it up there anyway.
Through out my time here on HKStuff I will be adding music reviews and rants about the industry that I have grown to love and hate in many different ways. If you are a player in this industry then you will understand what I mean by love and hate.
I will also be adding in addition my views about the world around us including the great big wondrous country we call China. I am hoping that with the addition of HKStuff I can finally not have to worry about being censured in anyway, I do tend to get angry at times with the uncivilized behavior of you mainland cousins.
Having said all this I hope you will enjoy what I write about.
I don't get to Hong Kong very much because I am very busy but I do try to get there when I can, for no other reason then to get a dose of civility, so when I do get over I am hoping I can meet some of you good people of Hong Kong and maybe we can get together and have some good western food and beers.
I enjoy live music and will be doing y best to brighten the live music and indie scene on the mainland. I will let you know when I am addressing the issue by having a major event in ShenZhen, the last few have been great successes, including the first Underground gig in ShenZhen. We welcome all Hong Kongers to attend any of our shows, hell it is just over the boarder, Right?
I have to say that living and working in China has been a major highlight of my life and I look forward to spending many more years here writing my way through the WWW. Since I have been here I have been robbed, beatin, abused, insulted, exploited and loved. I have seen people move their homes on a bicycle, I have seen people die at the front door of a hospital. I have seen homeless men taking a dump in the street, (at least it wasn't on the sidewalk). I have seen packs of dogs roaming the street before sunrise, and 13 year old prostitutes selling them selves for dinner money. I have grown to love the people here no matter what I say here on this blog China is my second home and I do love it. I believe in freedom of speech and freedom of man. The freedom to love and to be loved and the freedom to be who and what you want to be.
I am not looking for friend here but will take them if they come, I am not looking for lover here but maybe need one. I am not looking for a job but will never refuse the right opportunity. I am not looking for anything really but just the chance to be heard and the chance to see and hear everyone around me.
Life is hard so take it easy, it will love you and it will hate you, it will abuse you and teat you right. Don;t let it bother you you can't change it. So life it, try everything it has to offer. Taste it love it and live it.
Peace out
