...if I really want to move in Hong Kong and whether indeed one could not get the same amenities and entertainment here in Shenzhen.

I've been thinking about it for a while, and now I can safely say that no, I cannot get the same sort of 'cultured' entertainment here. Then people would turn to me and say: 'But you know, there ARE culture events on here; we have a concert hall, a theatre, an art gallery, etc'.

Yes, there are concert halls and a couple of galleries. I have been to most of these places...However, events that are actually of interest to me rarely occur (concerts of nice repertoire are a rarity), and whenever I go to such places here I feel like...it is all fake, it's unreal...It looks like a put-up show, a toy version of what would be real elsewhere....The buildings that house these theatres, concert halls and galleries...The people that attend those events...When I see a grandma dressed down almost like she is about to go to bed soon, with her grandson in a tracksuit of a uniform at the theatre, my heart just goes small....It's really disheartening to see all this in a place where, in my book, people are supposed to be dressed up for the occasion. Because it's a special occasion!

The behaviour of most people in these places, the obvious lack of understanding of what's going on on the stage...I could go on.

Yes, yes, I know I sound snobbish and that we're still at a 'development stage' here. However, I can't be asked to wait for the rest of my life for this process to complete. It will obviously take more than one generation and I am on no mission here. I just want to live my life the way I think is best. In the most enjoyable way :-)

So move out from Shenzhen I will. Sooner or later!

Thanks for your detailed comment, Gustavo, but....I was not quite sure what you really wanted to say. Is it that you are now m,oving back to Mexico? Or that you're simply disappointed in HK? Or that you're still loving it? I didn't quite get it.

Privet!,

i have been and live in hk for almost 6 years from the last 2005 ,surely i been in sz and gz so many times.,

i decided turn back to mexico city the place i use to live for 30 years.,

i was dreaming live in hk looking and expecting such chinese development and i dont talk about economy or money spending.,

i was move to china hk as many of us foreigners think to get better life than that in our countries etc,

but every human have to enjoy so simple things never would get in china, every person have 5 sens those are the basic make us feel happy,

is not talk about china but the past and everything was happend there make me knows that cant change in one generation.,

same as you if some day all so many things cant accept there i would never have chance to see those changes in my life.

my country as maybe russia have so much things we dislike and cant be agree about some social matters but im 100% sure i love have a chance to visit any time i wish the over 50 museums and so many international concert and festivals happend during all year around and even in hong kong is something i cant find.

im tired date a girl or meet a friend and always need to take indoor a/c dinner in hk and then paid the bill because we finish the meal and the waitress left the bill face to my eyes in my table  if i dont keep eating  or drink anything.

is not those a dairy life matters?i like be really a positive mind person and i fight against this thinking always find my self excuses about is all because cultural things and so on,

now i use to see pictures about hk and china from 70s or 80s and there was nothing really urban develop as you can see now,

the problem as you says in sz people come to live here but havent idea why you have to attend a gallery exbition and i even cant imagine what is a book international fair with a famous writers give a free speech, even hk and those big universities hku, polyu, china u,baptism u etc have most no idea other than a mind business.

i miss ask friends come home or find friends call or text me to invite meet in a friend house just to take a drink and listen some good music.

well im sure here are so many people like to share more like me but feel useless as the time i think why i write this if have no sense to share what i live and find there.

at least i find a good catholic church english and spanish speaking where i can attend sundays at noon and shake sincere hands on sundays, gathering and social with locals and another ones as me whos adopt the life in a far away place in this earth.

Gus.

Well, in fact I CAN do something and I AM trying. The thing is, it's not easy to find a job that will allow you to survive in HK. The offers I got so far were far below my expectation...:-( Even below what I am up for in Shenzhen...I simply cannot accept it as I think I won't be able to make a living. That's the problem.
